1. Who we are and scope
ZX SQC Free ("SQC Free", "the app") is a Steam Quality Calculator published by Zixlab Ltd, company number 17433963, registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 8 Telford Avenue, Ellesmere, Shropshire SY12 0GE, United Kingdom. Zixlab Ltd is the controller of personal information processed on our behalf in connection with the app.
This policy covers the Android app, its optional one-time SQC Pro upgrade and related support enquiries. The separate paid SQC app (uk.co.zixlab.sqc) has its own privacy policy. This policy does not replace the terms of Google Play, your device provider, your employer or services you choose when sharing reports.
2. Calculations and report information
The free app performs non-condensable gas, dryness value and superheat calculations and displays numerical results. The optional Pro upgrade adds pass/fail assessments and PDF report generation.
Information you enter may include measurements, equipment identifiers, test dates, performed-by names and report details. Calculations and PDF creation take place on your device. The app does not upload these inputs, calculated test results or PDF contents to Zixlab Ltd or RevenueCat. Please enter only information you are authorised to use.
When you save, print or share a PDF, your device and chosen destination control the transfer. Cloud storage, email and other sharing providers handle the report under their own policies. We do not receive a copy simply because you use these controls.
3. Accounts and automatic purchase-service connections
You do not need to create a Zixlab account to use the calculator. Google Play purchases and restoration use your Google Play account.
When the configured Android app starts, its purchase component connects to RevenueCat to check upgrade access and obtain product information, including when no purchase is made. RevenueCat generates a pseudonymous app user identifier to associate the installation with its purchase records. This identifier is not your name or email address; pseudonymous information may still be personal data.
4. Google Play and RevenueCat
Google Play processes payment for the optional one-time upgrade. The app uses RevenueCat, Inc. to verify purchases, maintain Pro access, restore eligible purchases and handle changes such as refunds and revocations. Google Play purchase-event notifications are delivered to RevenueCat through Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
Purchase processing includes product identifiers, purchase tokens or receipts, transaction and order identifiers, purchase dates, prices and currencies, purchase history, refund status and entitlement status. RevenueCat also processes the app user identifier and technical information needed for its service, such as app and SDK versions, device and operating-system information, locale, service connection activity and network request information.
We use purchase records for access management, support, fraud prevention and purchase/revenue analysis. RevenueCat acts as our processor for app end-user data. The app does not send your report name, equipment details or test measurements as RevenueCat customer attributes. We do not request your Google password or receive full payment-card details through the app.
Further information: RevenueCat privacy information, RevenueCat Data Processing Addendum and Google Privacy Policy. RevenueCat processes app end-user data under its agreement with Zixlab Ltd; this SQC Free policy explains our use of that service.
5. Purposes and legal bases
We process information necessary to provide, verify and restore your purchased upgrade to perform our contract with you. We rely on legitimate interests for proportionate security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, responding to enquiries and understanding purchase performance. We consider your rights and reasonable expectations when relying on those interests. We process records where necessary to comply with legal obligations, including applicable accounting requirements. Where consent is required for additional processing, we will seek it separately.
6. Advertising and sharing
SQC Free contains no advertising. We do not sell personal information or send test inputs or reports to advertisers. Our current app integration does not collect advertising identifiers or send customer attributes for advertising attribution.
Purchase-related information is processed by Google Play, RevenueCat and their relevant infrastructure providers to deliver the functions described above. Support correspondence may be handled by our email and support service providers. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to protect rights, security or obtain professional advice, with appropriate safeguards.
7. International processing and security
RevenueCat and its infrastructure providers may process purchase-related information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where required, international transfers are covered by appropriate contractual safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses and applicable UK transfer provisions, or another permitted transfer mechanism. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your data.
Communications with RevenueCat are encrypted in transit using TLS. Protect your device, Google account and exported reports with suitable access controls and organisational procedures. No electronic system can guarantee absolute security.
8. Retention and deletion requests
Purchase records are retained for as long as reasonably needed to provide and restore the lifetime upgrade, resolve support issues, prevent fraud and meet applicable legal record-keeping requirements. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose and relevant obligations.
You can request access to or deletion of personal information processed by Zixlab Ltd and RevenueCat on our behalf by emailing hello@zixlab.co.uk with the subject "SQC Free privacy request". Where relevant, include your Google Play order ID so we can locate the purchase record. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or service-account keys. We may request proportionate information to verify your request and locate a pseudonymous record.
We will assess deletion requests under applicable law, instruct RevenueCat where appropriate and explain any information we must retain and why. Deleting app purchase records does not itself refund or cancel a Google Play purchase. It may affect the records used to recognise Pro access; contact us if restoration is needed. Google independently manages its own transaction records.
Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete remotely held purchase records or exported PDFs. Manage saved reports and backups using your device and chosen storage providers. Copies already emailed or shared must be managed at their destinations.
9. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, restrict or object to processing, and obtain data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact hello@zixlab.co.uk to exercise your rights. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/ or another applicable supervisory authority.
10. Professional use and children
SQC Free is an engineering and quality-support utility intended for professional use, not an app directed at children. It does not replace approved procedures, calibrated equipment, qualified personnel or required independent verification. An employer-managed device may also be subject to the organisation's security, backup and retention rules.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when app functionality, service providers or data-handling practices change. We will publish updates here and amend the effective date. For privacy enquiries, contact Zixlab Ltd at hello@zixlab.co.uk or 8 Telford Avenue, Ellesmere, Shropshire SY12 0GE, United Kingdom.
